There is such a range of resources in this bible. I am not a huge fan of the newest NIV translation but this is what I am used to. If you are looking for a good study bible with a huge variety of resources this is the one for you.

Forgiveness Overcoming the impossible by Matthew West

Standard

During writing Matthew West collected stories about hurt and pain. I have been a fan of Matthew West and his music so I wanted to read a book that he wrote. I loved the book and the stories. Forgiveness was one of the most important things along with turning the other cheek.

This book was something that I really needed to read and hear. This book just spoke right into my life. I have been struggling with turning the other cheek and forgiving someone in my life. After reading the stories I realized that how freeing that forgiveness can be. I know you can read about how forgiveness should be and what it can do but then when you read the stories and realize how much of a personal effect it can be on their life it really hits  you.

Overextended and loving most of it

Standard

As a mom to a very active and busy three year old, I don’t know when I am not overextended. Since school has started and fall ministry season has started so much has been added to my life. This book is for the people that tend to take to much on in our lives. This book provides a lot of biblical advice and reminds us that yes that we need to be involved but there needs to be that balance between not being busy enough and being to busy. That if we are to busy then we can’t effectively be doing what we are supposed to.

I received this book from booksneeze in exchange for my honest opinion.

The Beauty of Broken

Standard

I am so excited that this years MOPS theme is A Beautiful Mess. I feel like this book would be a great supplement to the MOPS theme book this year. This book is one of the best and most honest christian books I’ve read it in a while. In fact I barely put it down when I was reading it. This book explores the fact that no matter how perfect that we want our family to be there is no perfect family and that everybody is broken. God actually prefers broken people because he take our mess and turn it into something beautiful, even if we think we are a broken ugly mess. We strive to be perfect and not a mess but everyone is even if we don’t realize this. This book is so incredibly honest and so eye opening that a CEO of a Christian organization isn’t perfect either.

NIV Leadership Bible

Standard

The tag line of this bible is to go from Reader to Leader in 15 minutes. This bible includes the updated the NIV text. I love this bible so far. There is  weekly studies for each week of the year based of leadership principles. You don’t have to be at the head of ministry or the head of a company, everyone is in a place of leadership somehow in our everyday life. This bible is made out durable material that it seems, it also lays flat. The print is standard print so it is actually quite easy to see. I have had problems before with other bibles where the print is difficult to see.

Nearing Home

Standard

“Growing old has been the greatest surprise of my life,” says Billy Graham, known by many as God’s Ambassador. “I would have never guessed what God had in store for me, and I know that as I am nearing home, He will not forsake me the last mile of the way.”

In Nearing Home this man of faith—now in his nineties—explores the challenges of aging while gleaning foundational truths from Scripture. Billy Graham invites us to journey with him as he considers the golden years while anticipating the hope of being reunited with his wife, Ruth, in his heavenly home that eclipses this world. “When granted many years of life, growing old in age is natural, but growing old with grace is a choice,” says the author. “Growing older with grace is possible for all who will set their hearts and minds on the Giver of grace, the Lord Jesus Christ.”

Join Billy Graham as he shares the challenges of fading strength but still standing strong in his commitment to finishing life well.

I enjoyed this book and it had some relevant for young people but I couldn’t really relate. I enjoy Billy Graham and his lessons as a great evangelist and that’s the reason I picked this book. I  would recommend it though for older people since this book seems to be targeted towards them. It would be a great book as a gift for older people. This book  did make me think though about what kind of legacy I want to leave when I return home. I enjoyed all the biblical lessons in the book and the  verses he quoted.

Prayer Warrior Mom by Marla Alupoaicei

Standard

About the book:
Moms, are you struggling with patience? Worrying about your children’s spiritual development? Concerned about their social or behavioral issues? Wondering how to get it all done when there’s just never enough time?

Author Marla Alupoaicei knows that today’s Christian moms want to be the parents God intended. They desire to pray boldly and stand in the gap for their kids. But many mothers haven’t been equipped with the prayer skills, scriptural knowledge, and practical strategies to fight the spiritual battle for themselves and their children.

Marla is no stranger to these trials. She has felt the simmering frustration and discontentment that come from the constant tension of trying to do it all for her family. But as Marla began to turn everything over to God in prayer, He granted her an attitude of gratitude, the antidote to despair. “When you and I choose to praise the Lord, He will be fully present in our hearts, in our homes, and with our children,” she says.

In Prayer Warrior Mom, Marla invites you to walk with her through fifteen life-transforming principles that will empower you to effectively intercede for your children. Learn to cultivate your own attitude of gratitude, pray Scripture, be persistent, pray with power and authority, be your children’s #1 advocate, hear God’s voice above the noise of daily life, and much more!

“The only real power we have on this earth is the power of prayer. Our potent prayers for our kids connect them with the reality of God and His will for their lives,” Marla says.

Mom, this is your year. Your year of spiritual breakthrough. Your year to see your children start loving God and living for Him. What are you waiting for? Become a Prayer Warrior Mom today!

My Thoughts:
This book is designed to help you become a prayer warrior and prayer warrior for your child. Personally I never thought about praying for your child until I had my daughter. I know right now there is so many things to try and influence our children that aren’t good. Our children need us praying for them more than ever. I thought this book helped offer me guidelines to pray for my daughter and better equip me to be a prayer warrior for her. I enjoyed the small group discussion questions and the bible verses.
